Steve Urquhart

My name is Steve Urquhart, and I’ve recently joined the Orange County Clerk of Courts as manager of organization development and strategic planning.

On a personal note, I am happily married (my wife, Micha and I celebrated our 17th anniversary this year) and we’ve lived in Orlando for about 15 years. I try to stay involved in community and civic affairs as much as time allows, and these are just a few of the projects and initiatives I am working on now: Rollins College President’s Leadership Council; Florida Chamber Foundation Six Pillars Caucus (founding member, Talent Supply & Education Caucus and Innovation Caucus); Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando; and VETsourcing – training and transition services for veterans.

It’s been somewhat of a circuitous route to this point in my career, but somehow it all makes sense. Here’s a quick timeline of the last twenty-plus years:

  • 1989: Enlisted in the US Army and joined the Military Intelligence Corps
  • 1990: Completed Airborne training and joined the 82nd Airborne Division as a reconnaissance specialist
  • 1991: Fought in Iraq and Kuwait (Operation Desert Storm)
  • 1992:  Assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division in Würzburg, Germany
  • 1993: Promoted to corporal and assigned to battalion staff to lead the Training/Schools program
  • 1995: Promoted to sergeant and reassigned to 1st Infantry Division battalion operations and training
  • 1996: Assigned to lead human resources staff and HRIS, performance and evaluation functions
  • 1997: Moved to Orlando, Florida and joined 143rd Transportation Command‘s Staff Judge Advocate team
  • 1998: Joined GES Exposition Services and implemented company-wide continuous quality improvement program
  • 2001: Graduated from Rollins College with B.A. in organizational communication, joined Siemens AG
  • 2002: Led projects in human resources strategy, succession planning, and employee engagement for Siemens AG
  • 2005: Joined Enterprise Florida (state economic development) as director of organizational excellence
  • 2008: Transitioned to Workforce Florida (state workforce investment board) as head of policy, programs and performance
  • 2010: Launched T21 Solutions, LLC as a consulting firm that specializes in talent solutions for the 21st century
  • 2011: Graduated from Webster University with M.A. in human resources development
